Google Analytics

Free web analytics for traffic, acquisition, and on-site behavior.

Overview

Google Analytics is the default traffic report for a huge number of sites, and the standard product is free. Setup is a tag plus a property, then a learning curve around events and explorations. Sampling, thresholds, and privacy constraints mean it is a poor fit when you need raw, identifiable product analytics. Use it to understand acquisition. Use a product tool when the question is about a specific user’s path.
